Staging prepares a seller’s home to look its best. Some of the benefits are:

What does a standard staging process include?

For occupied homes, I offer consultations. Consultations are a ‘walk & talk’ service where I encourage the seller to take notes as I share ideas on specific editing, decluttering, and rearranging of furniture. The seller then follows through on their to-do list before putting their house on the market. I also offer a Hands-On Staging service. This service is where I personally make changes in simplifying, rearranging, and styling their home using existing decor.

For unoccupied dwellings, I offer Vacant Home Staging. This starts with a preview of the home so I can see the layout, paint colors, and finishes. I put together a plan and prepare a staging proposal. I recommend staging the key areas of the home including the living room, dining room, and kitchen. I have my own inventory of home furniture and accessories that I deliver, set up, and style the home. The seller then rents the staging furniture and accessories to keep the items in the home on a monthly basis.

Are there any hot new trends for staging in 2021?

Home staging doesn’t typically follow design trends very closely. Neutral home décor is best for staging a home because not all buyers like boho, and not all homes fit the farmhouse look. However, the needs and wants of home buyers have changed. Specifically, the pandemic has influenced an increased interest in home office/learning spaces. Also, because we are spending more time at home, buyers are looking for a cozy, relaxed vibe where they will enjoy spending much of their time.

CLEAN like you have never cleaned before! Dirt is the #1 home sale killer. With some work and a good scrub, you can make your house shine.

Why did you choose home staging as a career?

A real estate agent who knew my love for ‘all things home’ gave me the idea. She encouraged me by saying that I would be good at it and that staging is needed in our community. I gave it a lot of thought, did my research, and decided, “I’ll never know unless I try.” I am now in my 9th year in business!

What is your favorite thing about your job?

Although staging can be challenging and a lot of work, I love highlighting the beauty that each home has. I enjoy having the opportunity to transform homes into spaces that inspire. Sometimes clients tell me, “Wow, maybe I don’t want to sell my house anymore. It looks so good!”
